CTWS Monthly Program

February 2023

Artist: Sue Ann Paulus

Demonstration: Paint Properties

Time: 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Location: Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit

1624 Wooded Acres, Waco, Texas

Sue Ann remembers Covid lock down and decided she wanted her own palette of colors. So taking all the paints I had collected over the years (that presenting artists used and recommended in their workshops) the project began.

What I wanted was an all transparent, non staining, warm and cool of each color, lightfast I or II palette. And lastly, to know if any were granulating.

Over the months that followed I made an extensive chart with all the paints I owned. It became apparent that not all paints are what the companies say they are. And that the same paints but by different companies are not always the same paints.

We will be doing the same exercises I did, but limited to your palette and hopefully you will learn something new about your paints and have fun too.

Supply List:

Two - 1/4 sheets of 140 # water- color paper and board or alternative surface to tape your paper to and tape. A large, wide tipped black magic marker, ruler, pencils and eraser.

Your palette plus the correspond- ing tubes of paint (this is important) and any other paints you might be curious about. A water container and 1/4 and 1/2 inch flat brushes, Kleenex or paper towels, and Q-tips (about as many as the number of paint colors you bring).
